Season Finale, my last OCHSA concert is finally over. It was a huge sucess. I arrived at the Performing Arts Center at about 3 and then at 4 we went on stage to reherse the Wind Ensemble music. The Wind Ensemble played the Glory Days, and the Incredits from The Incredibles. It was absolutely priceless that Issac Kraemer literally jumped a FOOT above the podium he was standing on to conduct the final note. His animation and dedication to the Wind Ensemble really paid off more than he recieved credit for. But I imagine that all the Wind Ensemble members will look back and appreciate it later.
The Symphony Orchestra played Autumn Overture for the last time as well, and couldn't help feeling a bit of nostalgia for playing it again. The Orchestra had lost and gained some members, but essentially, it was the same group that went to Australia this summer, and it was an amazing experience. I will never have another experience like it with so many people at such an amazing venue. The music was written for the Sydney Orchestra and the OCHSA Orchestra to play together, so it wasn't quite as thrilling, but the memories behind it, and voctory we had all accomplished of performing in the Opera House, and the accomplishment of getting through the school year together, really brought all of us closer to each other than I think we were initially. We got to know each other much better and opperated as a team rather than as individual musicians. These accomplishments really made up for everything and the gratification of playing the Autumn Overture again was absolutely priceless;
This morning, June 1st at 10:03 am, marks the nine days (including weekends) left of my OCHSA experience. It has overall been a long sucessful fun, and I will hopefully return to OCHSA at some point to play with the Orchestra again and watch it flourish. I am currently finishing projects for my last classes for OCHSA, and then hopefully going to get a MacBook for college. Until then? I remain the OCHSA Bassoon Band Geek, Class of 2009.
